Vancouver, BC - At Home at the Theatre - In the House

On October 5th, 2007, In the House presents an intimate evening of theatre with “A Report to an Academy,” starring Matias Hacker. If you haven’t been to the theatre recently (or ever) there is no better opportunity than to enjoy it in the intimacy and comfort of a living room.

Synopsis of the play: Less than five years ago, an ape is captured in the jungles of West Africa. While on the ship returning to Europe, the ape comes to the realization that the only way to stay out of the zoo is to become human enough to perform as an ape-turned-human on the vaudeville stage. In this adaptation of Franz Kafka’s “A Report to an Academy,” the ape-gone-human presents his experiences to a meeting of the scientific Academy.

What the critics say: “A Report to an Academy” is as thought provoking as it is humorous… this adaptation explores the very essence of what it is to be human.”
